Protecting Your Health Before Problems Begin
Preventative Dentistry
Preventative dentistry is the foundation of everything we do at Guthrie Dental. It’s not just about clean teeth—it’s about protecting your overall health, preserving your comfort, and supporting a smile that serves you well for years to come. We believe the best dentistry is proactive, not reactive.
Why Prevention Matters
Small issues rarely stay small. What begins as mild inflammation or early decay can quietly progress into more complex treatment needs if left unaddressed.
Routine exams and professional cleanings allow us to monitor changes over time, identify concerns early, and intervene conservatively when needed. Early detection often means simpler treatment, less discomfort, and better long-term outcomes.
Preventative care supports:
Healthier gums
Stronger enamel
Fewer emergencies
Reduced need for extensive treatment
Greater long-term comfort
This is dentistry done thoughtfully,
with your future in mind.
Our Treatment Process
We recommend a professional cleaning at least every 6 months where we will perform a thorough examination. However, some people may benefit from cleanings every 3-4 months depending on their oral health and risk factors for developing gum and bone disease.
01
Dental Checkup
Every visit begins with a detailed oral examination. Our doctors carefully evaluate your teeth, gums, bite, oral cancer screening, and overall oral health to identify concerns early and create a clear, personalized care plan.
02
Professional Cleaning
Our hygienists gently remove tartar and plaque buildup that daily brushing and flossing cannot fully address. This thorough cleaning helps reduce your risk of decay and gum disease while protecting your enamel and gums.
03
Fluoride Protection
When appropriate, a fluoride treatment is applied to strengthen enamel and help defend against acid attacks from bacteria and sugars, providing added protection between visits.
04
Personalized Oral Hygiene Guidance
We don’t subscribe to generic advice. You’ll receive individualized recommendations for brushing techniques, flossing habits, and dietary choices that support your long-term oral health.
05
Ongoing Monitoring & Partnership
Preventive care doesn’t end when your appointment does. Regular check-ups allow us to monitor changes over time, ensure treatments remain effective, and make thoughtful adjustments as needed, always with your lasting health in mind.
Personalized Preventive Plans
No two patients share the same history or risk factors. Some benefit from routine twice-yearly visits, while others require more frequent care. We tailor every preventive plan to you—never a template. As a relationship-driven practice, we build continuity of care to thoughtfully guide your health over time.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a new dentist. I was new to the area seeking new dentist accepting my insurance for typical cleaning/xrays as part of preventive care. The staff are very helpful in explaining the process, including how to use their portal to provide the information. They booked me right away so I didn't have to wait months for teeth cleaning as a new patient (transferring dental records to start over is hard out of state). Day of my service, everyone was so warm welcoming (even the office has a cozy feeling despite being a dental office). Staff are so nice and super awesome, and I loved their golden retriever to see on way out. Thank you!!
